Royal Air Force Sidmouth 
‘the stand-up and draw-down' in WWII

Alastair moved to Sidmouth in 2011 after serving 40 years in the Royal Air Force. His specialisation focused on air defence and space related operations. He has a keen interest in history generally but finds Tudor and Stuart history very absorbing. However, after arriving in the town in 2011 he has taken a keen interest the in the town’s WWII history. He wrote the chapter on this subject in the SVA publication, Sidmouth; The War Years (available from our online shop). He cast new light on the planning process, the various groups undergoing training and the hotel requisitions.
