Sidmouth Museum with the Sid Vale Association

“Something for everyone of all ages” is the aim of Sidmouth Museum through its interpretation of the Jurassic Coast and local history.

Our permanent displays track the development of the town from fishing village to the present day. They include Regency and Victoriana; famous people and royal visitors; fine prints, photographs, art, lace and the arrival of the railway and industry.

240 million years of history are charted with Jurassic Coast interpretation panels and a superb collection of rocks and fossils, including dinosaur footprints, assembled from around the Sidmouth area.

An ambitious programme for a small Museum to present special annual exhibitions dedicated to local interests, groups and places.

The Museum will re-open on Friday, 31st March 2017 at 10am.  Over the winter our volunteers will be busy carrying out maintenance on our old cottage.  We’ll also be setting up new displays, maintaining our policy of always changing a number of exhibitions each year so there is always something new for visitors to see.
In the meantime, our online shop will be open offering a wide range of SVA publications, other books and items.
We look forward to welcoming new and returning visitors in 2017.

The Museum runs a number of events throughout the season designed to appeal to people of all ages
