Volunteering Vacancies

The SVA is staffed totally by volunteers, and is dependent upon them to continue our work. If you are able to spare some time and are interested in one of the following vacancies or joining one of the committees, then complete the form below. Examples of the ways you could help are:

If you like meeting people, and are interested in what the Museum offers, then help us by becoming a Steward helping visitors to the Museum. If you would prefer to help behind the scenes on stored collections and preparing exhibitions, then this role may be for you.

Conservation and Planning Committee

We are seeking one or two people to join the small group who monitor planning applications submitted to the planning authority which could impact upon the conservation of our natural heritage.  We write to and sometimes speak at, relevant EDDC and STC planning meetings.  Special skills are not required, although anybody with a planning or building background would be most welcome. Access to the internet and e-mail preferable.

Estates management

We need helpers once per week for 2-3 hrs to help us manage our estates. No experience required – just enthusiasm!

Social Secretary

We already have a small group of willing helpers to provide refreshments at a variety of SVA events. We seek an arranger/planner to develop, with the help of this group, a programme of Social activities.
